The Crested Butte Arts Festival returns to historic Elk Avenue this August, filling the street with over 150 juried artists, live music, food vendors, and a beer and wine garden. Locals and visitors spend the weekend strolling the booths, catching performances, and enjoying the creative energy that takes over downtown during one of summer’s most anticipated events.
A quirky and beloved tradition, the Rotary Duckie Race sends hundreds of rubber ducks racing down Coal Creek in support of local scholarships and causes. Grab your tickets every Saturday at the Post Office from 10 AM to 4 PM. For just $10, you’ll support youth programs, nonprofit grants, and maybe even cheer your duck to victory.
Hop on the Silver Queen Express and hike 1.25 miles to the summit for unbeatable 360° views. It’s a short but rewarding trek through forest, tundra, and boulders. Scenic ride tickets include all-day access to both the Silver Queen and Red Lady lifts, plus hiking trails, disc golf, and more. Twilight rides run Wednesdays and Fridays through August 15.

Live music kicks off at noon with Chicken Wire Empire, followed by Clay Street Unit at 2:15 PM.
Kick off your midweek with free outdoor concerts at the base of the mountain. Hosted by the Mt. Crested Butte Town Center Association, Music on the Mountain brings live performances, local food and drinks, and a lively crowd. It’s family-friendly, always fun, and happens rain or shine.
