Crested Butte Arts Festival 2026: Everything You Need to Know Before You Go

One of my favorite weekends of the summer in Crested Butte is the annual Arts Festival. Every year, historic Elk Avenue transforms into an outdoor gallery filled with incredible artwork, live music, local food, and visitors from all over.

If you're planning to attend this year's festival, here's everything you need to know before you go.

Local Tips

To make the most of your visit:

  • Arrive early on Saturday or visit Friday evening for a more relaxed experience.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. You'll spend plenty of time walking Elk Avenue.
  • Bring a light jacket. Mountain weather can change quickly, even in the middle of summer.
  • Take time to explore the local shops, galleries, and restaurants just beyond the festival booths.

Bringing Your Dog?

Dogs are not allowed on the festival promenade along Elk Avenue to help protect artwork and improve pedestrian safety.

Instead, organizers ask visitors to use the designated Paw Path along the sidewalk.

Parking

Parking in downtown Crested Butte fills quickly during festival weekend.

If you're staying nearby, consider walking or biking. Visitors from elsewhere in the valley can also take advantage of the free shuttle system, making it an easy way to get downtown without worrying about parking.
