September in Crested Butte

September is one of my favorite months in Crested Butte. The air turns crisp, the aspens light up the valley in gold, and there’s plenty to enjoy like the Chili & Beer Festival and the Film Festival. The real highlight is the fall colors, especially in the last two weeks of the month. Click here to see the best places to catch fall colors. Just a quick reminder that after today, September 1st, season pass prices go up, so if you haven’t gotten yours yet, now is the time to lock in the lowest rate.

Market Conditions

In August, we saw the market take a bit of a breather here in Crested Butte. Fewer homes and condos came on the market compared to last year, and sales slowed, too. That said, prices are holding their ground, especially for single-family homes, which tells me that buyers are still willing to pay for the right property. For buyers, this means there is less to choose from, but the pace feels a little less competitive than in past summers. For sellers, the key is still presentation and pricing since well-prepared homes are the ones catching buyers’ eyes.
