When people start looking at homes in Crested Butte, they naturally focus on the property itself: the location, the views, the size, the price.
Those things matter. But after more than 31 years of living and working in Crested Butte, I've come to see the value of owning here a little differently.
You're not just buying a mountain home. You're buying the opportunity to live a certain kind of life.

I've seen this play out with so many second-home owners.

After three decades in the valley, I've watched families grow, businesses evolve, and generations of people become part of this community.

This is also why I don't think there's one "best" type of Crested Butte property.
A condo in Mt. Crested Butte might be perfect for someone who wants easy ski access and a low-maintenance second home.
A home in town might be better for someone who wants to walk to dinner, shops, and community events.
A property in Skyland or one of the surrounding areas may appeal to someone looking for more space, privacy, views, or a different pace.
The right property is the one that supports the way you actually want to spend your time.
